Šimon is a PhD candidate in the Public Policy track. He researches the effects of public policy on innovation using methods from economics and data science. His dissertation studies the choice of inventors between patents, secrecy, and open access, and the effects policy on this choice. His most recent project develops new methods to measure innovation. He previously worked as an analyst in the European Commission in the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation. He is a recipient of the Fulbright Postgraduate Researcher Scholarship (2023), the Academic Achievement Award for First-Year PhD students (CEU, 2023), the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award (CEU, 2018), and the Visegrad Scholarship (2017).
